Ricor, Inc. provided earthwork, asphalt paving, and underground utilities for the Maricopa Solar Plant in Peoria, AZ. The 1.5 megawatt facility is the first commercial project to utilize the SunCatcher™ concentrating solar power technology. The zero-water-use system utilizes 38-foot diameter, mirrored parabolic dishes combined with an automatic tracking system to focus the sun’s energy onto a Stirling engine, which converts the solar thermal energy into grid-quality electricity.
