Named after a state lawmaker who served for 45 years, this new 140,000 SF storage facility for Arizona state archives, artifacts and public records encompasses nearly 15.5 miles of movable shelving. The interior is maintained at a constant environment of 55 degrees and 30-40 percent humidity and includes blast-freezing/fumigation room, a conservation lab, cold photograph storage, an audio visual room, staff work areas, and a public hearing room. In its opening weeks, the facility accepted an estimated 300,000 boxes of material from the State Capitol and several other storage sites. Ricor, Inc. performed the earthwork and asphalt paving for the project.
